Treadmill Training
Whether you are already skating at an elite level or just starting out on skates, Full Stride Skating has a treadmill program for you. For beginners, we provide skaters with foundational stride mechanics that allow them to develop strong habits and eliminate any imbalances, optimizing performance when they hit the ice.
For higher-level athletes looking to improve beyond a foundational level, we can provide more complex drills, which may include but are not limited to stick-handling, edgework, stride elongation, and overall speed.
Our training methods were researched and developed by Dr. Kelly Lockwood, PhD, at Brock University's Kinesiology department. Through her research into biomechanics, high performance sport and Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD), Doctor Lockwood has revolutionized modern skating with over 30+ years of research and applied sports science. Her training method is being used at paperweight level, all the way up to the professional levels (NHL, OHL, various other leagues). Kelly's extensive research on Treadmill training has been applied through a comprehensive training program that we use to train skaters. All of our trainers have a Kinesiology degree under Kelly and are trained under her program.
We use Dr. Lockwood’s proven methods at Full Stride Skating Lab today and with improved treadmill technology and a state-of-the-art facility, we have a training program for skaters of all ages and abilities.
